The Pakistan Workers Federation (PWF), has sent proposals to the Prime Minister and Federal Minister, Finance and Economic Affairs to tackle the serious economic and social crises being faced by the masses due to high prices of essential commodities, its Secretary General, Khurshid Ahmad said on Sunday.
He informed Business Recorder that PWF in the proposals, has referred to issues like unemployment, and need of human capital development through meaningful education and training facilities.
The proposals also include the measures for poverty alleviation and adoption of 'National Economic Self Reliance Policy' and austerity in all walks of life, he claimed.
The PWF has urged to divert the national resources for national industrial and agricultural development and adopt culture for safer work and pursue 'Productivity Campaign' to increase the export of the manufactured goods of the country that could enable to overcome the $15 billion per year trade deficit.
It has also demanded that wages be raised, enhancement in house rent allowance and house acquisition facilities be granted to the workers engaged both in government and public sector at an equal rate allowed at Rawalpindi.
The organisation also demanded income tax be levied to the wage earner having emoluments of more than Rs3, 00, 000. They also demanded that remittances being sent by Pakistani workers abroad amounting to $5 billion per year be used for raising productive capacity of the industry and agriculture and amounts of billions of rupees waived by the banks be recovered and agrarian reforms be introduced in the larger national interest. The PWF President has demanded of incorporating the proposals in the Federal Budget 2008-09.
