Lawyers who are protesting against the dismissal of judges on Thursday staged a rally on The Mall. They called on President Pervez Musharraf to resign and asked the Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to order reinstatement of judges.
Bar members, after their general body meetings, reached the main gate of Lahore High Court and then proceeded to The Mall. They disbursed peacefully outside the Punjab Assembly. The bar now plans to put up portraits of Karachi bar members in the Karachi Hall who died in violent clashes. The bar has demanded the resignation of Attorney General Malik Muhammad Qayyum. Hamid Khan and Azam Chohan also addressed the bar members.
