The new Sindh government has refused to extend the contract of Shamsuddin Solangi, chairman, Sindh Text Book Board, Jamshoro, that is ending April 29, 2008. Sources told Business Recorder here on Thursday that the STBB bore the brunt of criticism during the chairmanship of Solangi and he was blamed many times in past for the ill progress of the board.
The board was continuously failing to publish the textbooks before the start of academic years, sources said, adding that the corruption cases were also unearthed in the process of awarding contracts for text books printing.
It is worth mentioning here that a few weeks back, representatives of private publishers hold a press conference against the board administration at tKhe arachi Press Club and blamed the board officials for asking bribe in awarding publishing contracts.
Following the repeatedly corruption charges, the government had also seized all the bank accounts of the board while the necessary payments were being issued by the board only after the permission of the provincial education department.
Sources claimed that the Sindh government has decided, in principle, to replace the administrator of the STBB and no extension would be awarded to him whose contract is ending April 29, 2008.
A notification issued here on Thursday by the Sindh government stated that Qadir Bukhsh Rind, Assistant Professor (BS-18), Secretary, Sindh Text Book Board, Jamshoro shall look after the charge of the post of chairman, Sindh Text Book Board till further orders, upon expiry of contractual appointment of Shamsuddin Solangi with effect from April 29, 2008.
