The Director General (DG) Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Irfan Ali has directed for immediate steps for restoration of the drainage system on Sehr Road and Shahbaz Road, Factory Area Mehmood Booti in the city.
He issued directives during a visit to different areas of the city for inspection of work being carried out by Wasa under the crash programme launched by it for clearing city drains on emergency basis.
The programme will continue till June 15, under which eight big and 75 small drains will be de-silted. The sewerage system in Sehr Road and Shahbaz Road, Factory area Mehmood Booti was found choked due to release of industrial waste in the system.
The DG LDA directed Wasa to complete de-silting of drains and nullahs by working for nine hours a day. He said that as the discharge of disposal stations reduces to one third of their capacity due to load shedding therefore work should be carried out to ensure proper drainage.
Appreciating the employees for their commitment he said, four months from April to July are a performance test of the Wasa staff and directed them to ensure uninterrupted supply of drinking water during summer season, and rapid draining of rainwater during the monsoon.
