There have been innumerable disruptions in PIA's domestic flight schedules during last two weeks. Reports said that PIA has grounded 5 Boeing 737 under pressure from CAA, for checks following world-wide warnings of corrosion etc.
While the government is busy with its political problems, the airline is plagued with incompetency and a series of bad appointments. Just a change of CEO or Chairman, while the rest of executives remain the same, does not warrant a chance for the airline to recover.
The poor policies made by the airline management during the past 6 years, has landed it in a state of paralysis. Why was the management not giving attention to Boeing 737 fleet, when it knew too well the state of these aircrafts. Domestic fares are so exorbitant that the airline makes more per seat per kilometer than on major international routes like UK, USA or Canada.
Modifications should have been carried out like on the rest of the Boeing 737 fleet world-wide. The delay also points out the failure of CAA to perform its regulatory functions. In USA over 300 Boeing 737s belonging to Southwest Airlines, American Airlines etc have been grounded, while PIA was busy with Boeing 747 grounding.
