Necessary amendments would be made in the environmental laws to help control the pollution.This was stated by the Sindh Minister for Information, Ms Shazia Marri. She was speaking at a walk organised here on Tuesday in connection with the International Earth Day.
The minister was of the view that concerted efforts were needed to check the environmental pollution and help provide healthy environment to the future generations. Shazia pointed out that increasing pollution is giving rise to a number of diseases.She said that the growing number of vehicles was also resulting in environmental pollution.
The Minister was of the view that we should bring in changes in our lifestyles, maintain cleanliness in and around our houses to help combat the menace of pollution.She suggested that disciplines relating to environment should be introduced in the syllabus at the school level. Shazia pointed out that it is in the manifesto of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) to contribute towards a clean, healthy environment.
She said that the present government would soon initiate steps in this direction. The Sindh Secretary Environment, Mir Hussain Ali, also spoke on the occasion. Certificates were also distributed among the youngsters who took part in the cleanliness drive.
