A six-member Iranian media delegation will be visiting Pakistan from April 24 to May 1 at the invitation of Islamabad Policy Research Institute. The delegation led by Dr Mohammad Javad Haqshanas, Managing Director, leading Persian daily Etemad-e-Melli, comprises senior journalists from leading English and Persian dailies, including Kayhan International, Iran News and Jamhoori Islami as well as Mehr and Fars News agencies.
During the weeklong visit, the Iranian media delegation is likely to have meetings with the President and Prime Minister. They will also call on the foreign and interior ministers, Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Chairman, Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs.
The purpose of the visit is to enhance media cooperation between Pakistan and Iran besides providing an opportunity to Iranian mediamen to witness Pakistan's socio-economic developments from close quarters. The visit is also expected to lead to better projection of Pakistan in the Iranian media, particularly, following the February 18 general elections and the establishment of new government in Pakistan. This will be the 5th Iranian media delegation to visit Pakistan since 2004.
