Red chilli price at Kunri wholesale market reached to an all time high at Rs 10,000 per 40 kilos. Red Chilli Grocers Association's President Mian Saleem told a private television channel that the Kunri wholesale market during last three days witnessed red chilli per 40 kilograms price soared from Rs 6,900 to a new record level at Rs 10,000.
He attributed this abnormal price hike to non-availability of water for sowing the red chilli new crop. He further said that if the red chilli could not be sowed during April, then it would have to be imported next year from other countries at Rs 12,000 per 40 kilograms.
