The Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik said on Friday that the government has constituted a committee to review the cases pending against Baloch nationalists.
He said this in Senate while responding to a Baloch Senator Dr Abdul Malik who demanded of the government to release all the nationalists who have been detained implicating them in different cases and those who went missing.
Rehman Malik said that the government has offered the nationalist leader Sardar Akhtar Mengal for his release but he rejected the offer and demanded for releasing all his comrades who have been locked up in different jails. The advisor said that the government has constituted a committee to look into the cases of these people and would soon decide on it.
He also asked the Senator to provide the list of those people who have gone missing from and the government would give them good news about these people within a couple of weeks.
"The issue of missing people is a national issue and all those will soon be released, who have been detained without following proper rules". "The first priority of the government, he said, is to maintain rule of law," he claimed.
MISSING ENVOY: Earlier, on a point of order raised by Senator Babar Ghauri of MQM, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi informed the House that the abducted Envoy Tariq Azizuddin is safe and the foreign and interior ministries are jointly handling the case to get him safely released.
Presently, he said, the abducted envoy is safe and he is being reportedly provided satisfactory meal and required medicine by the abductors. However, he said, the government not oblivious of the situation and the negotiations with the abductors for his release is going on in right direction. The Minister, however, requested to not highlight the issue keeping in view the sensitivity of the issue.
