Senior Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Makhdoom Javed Hashmi has said that his party will detach from the government if judges are not reinstated. However, PML-N will continue its support to the ruling alliance.
"If any leniency is shown by the government in restoration of judges then PML-N will quit ministries but will let the other ruling parties continue to govern," Hashmi said at a press conference at Karachi Press Club on Friday.
There are only six days left in the reinstatement of judges, he said and urged the government to respect its pledges made in this regard to the nation. To a question, Hashmi said that PML-N chief, Nawaz Sharif's stance is clear that his party has not taken part in elections for acquiring ministries.
He said that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) can join the ruling coalition, however it has to first accept responsibility of May 12 bloodshed in Karachi, announce support for reinstatement of the judges and abrogation of 58 (2) B, besides accepting judicial inquiry into April 9 mayhem.
To another question, Hashmi said that the judges will be reinstated in line with the Bhurban Declaration, however constitutional package is a different issue. "No constitutional package will be acceptable for reinstatement of the judges," he elaborated.
The PML-N leader said that Pervez Musharraf had brought the former prime minister Shaukat Aziz who left the country in wheat and energy crisis and Musharraf should call him back for accountability.
He said that implementation of Article 6 of the Constitution is the only deterrence against the breach of Constitution by any army general. President Pervez Musharraf's political future is bleak, as the nation has given its verdict in general elections against him, he replied to a question.
