Police and food department officials at Baigpur checkpost seized 1000 bags of wheat flour which were carried by five Peshawar-bound trucks from Gujranwala. None of the drivers of the trucks (965-SW, 2396-BUA, 541-TKT, 1562-A and 6588-B) who were smuggling the flour had a receipt for their cargo.
Food inspector Muhammad Sharif Virk and other staff disclosing the detail said that as many as 600 bags of 40 kg flour each, 445 sacks of 80 kg, and 550 bags of 20 kg were recovered from the vehicles. Police also arrested 10 staffers of the trucks and registered cases against them, and impounded the vehicles. Investigation is underway to trace the mill from which the flour was being smuggled.
