A three-day Teacher Training Programme (TTP) concluded here at the Government College University (GCU) Lahore.The programme is a part of the GCU's Quality Policy, as approved and strictly enforced by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Khalid Aftab.
The VC has enforced the faculty development programme that all new teaching and research staff should undergo. The training and development cycle comprises pre-service, in-service and mandatory attendance of the HRDC training programme. The main elements of TTP included focus on academic and administrative issues.
Papers were presented on different topics like Higher Education Academic Setting, Purpose and Functions of QEC, Classroom Management, Role of psychology in Education and Grading system.
The Quality Enhancement Cell of the GCU Lahore organised the TTP where the Director of the Cell, Iram Sohail and the Consultant on Quality Assurance to GCU Akbar Rahmatullah addressed the session.
While Sahibzada Faisal Khursheed, Professor Anjum Saleemi, Abdul Waheed, Chief Librarian, Professor Dr Islamullah Khan attended the event as guest speakers. The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) has awarded two scholarships to Malik Muhammad Khan and Muhammad Hassan of BSc Engineering and Telecommunications programme of the Centre for Advanced Studies in Physics (Casp) of the GCU Lahore.
The Casp Engineer, Khurram Mehmood Butt said in his speech that the scholarship would cover tuition fee, hostel dues, regular monthly stipend for 4-years and yearly book allowance.
The Director Casp, Professor Dr Ijaz Mujtaba Ghauri, in a briefing held at the Casp, said that the students have been selected after a countrywide competition and the PAEC will bear their fees and on completion of their course, would provide them job opportunity for five years at least.
Dr Ijaz has said that the success of the young students was simply due to the continuity of an ongoing tradition of excellent performance and achievements of Ravians. The VC commended the brilliant achievement of the GCU students for acquiring "PAEC Talent scholarship Scheme batch-I" and hoped that they would continue their efforts in bringing laurels and gaining academic benefits for themselves.
Further, he hoped that in the recent past, the newly installed pelletron nuclear accelerator in the Casp is an addition to the facilities that already existed for academic research and termed it a hallmark of the varsity academic components. He also assured all possible financial support to be extended in order to facilitate researchers and promote scientific activities.
