The University of Agriculture, Faisalabad has decided to sell the certified wheat seed using its own brand name in order to supply pure and high yield seed to the farming community. The Vice Chancellor (VC), UAF, Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said this while inaugurating the harvesting campaign of wheat at the research area of the university on Saturday.
'The UAF, as a higher learning institution in the field of Agriculture has to play a vital roll in promoting agricultural technological advancements in the country. He urged Agri-scientists to come forwarded and develop cheapest and practicable technologies for the farmers.
The VC maintained that the UAF is planning to establish a permanent exhibition centre enabling the farming community take benefit of new technologies. Earlier, Director Farms, Professor Dr Ehsan Ullah informed the VC that 700 acres of wheat were cultivated at university Farms. 50 acres of wheat crop was reserved for seed that was certified and checked by the authorities and was graded high.
He also told that seed grading and other relevant technology would be set up to boost the seed development activities. Later, the VC inaugurated the climatical change field laboratory and glass house at the research area.
