The secretary-general of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's International Affairs Committee, Sheikh Kaiser Mahmood, has said as Article 58 (2)b is against the spirit of 1973 Constitution, therefore, this article is a question mark for the parliament.
Speaking at a meeting here on Saturday, he said: "An individual cannot be given authority to blackmail or dismiss parliament which is representative body of 160 million people of the country." Sheikh Kaiser Mahmood said all extra-judicial amendments, including 58 (2)b have to be scrapped to ensure strengthening and continuation of democratic process in the country.
He said now decisions about the country would be taken in democratic institutions and not in presidency. He said masses have rejected Pervez Musharraf and his party and said: "No political party would commit mistake of supporting dictatorial rule in future."
Talking about briefing to national leaders on important national issues by Army Chief, he said it is a positive step. Sheikh Kaiser said masses would foil all conspiracies against judiciary and democracy. He said there should be former president Rafiq Tarar like person is in the President House who could take along all institutions, including parliament.
