LAHORE: Workers and labourers have admired the government for increasing minimum wage in the federal budget 2017-18.
Talking to APP here on Friday, workers leaders Mian Liaquat Ali and Nazir Ahmed said the PML-N government had increased the minimum wage from Rs 14,000 per month to Rs 15,000 per month.
They appreciated the government for its attention towards the most marginalized segment of society. "Since this increase is mainly implementable in the private sector where owners of factories etc. try to avoid minimum wage rate and we expect from the officials concerned of the government to ensure implementation on it ", said Mian Liaquat.
He said the minimum wage rate was much low when the PML-N government came to power in the year 2013. The gradual increase had reached to a level where a worker could make both ends meet, he added.
