Another research about psychedelic claims, these drugs have the ability to lower suicide risks in marginalized people.

The study was presented at the Psychedelic Science conference in United States in order to reveal if these substances can be used for treating mental illnesses.

A Canadian researcher Elena Argento examined data from study that continued for four years of 800 women sex workers in Vancouver. The study included the women to fill out questionnaires about topics such as asking them if they used drugs and if they have had any suicidal thoughts regarding it in the last six months, reported Tonic.

The results uncovered that the women who had at some point used psychedelic drugs were 60% less likely to go through suicidal thoughts as compared to those who hadn’t. On the other hand, women who took crystal meth were more susceptible to suicidal thoughts.

Though being an observational research, it only strengthens the widely known psychedelic effects. These drugs including LSD, MDMA or magic mushrooms are known for their obvious psychological benefits in controlled environments, however, wrong use might lead to psychological issues.

Argento said, “We didn't separate out looking just at LSD or psilocybin, for example, although that's something we could look at in the future. There are plans at the BC Center for Excellence to start doing some trials with psychedelics. Potentially some of the sex workers will have the opportunity to be enrolled in these trials of using psychedelics for various mental health issues.”

A study from last year also showed how the psilocybin mushroom can act as anti-depressants. Another research proved that LSD can diminish ego and enhance brain communications along with helping to cure depression, anxiety, addiction and OCD, informs Independent.
