There is no option other than restoration of judges for Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif, and the government would have to repeal Article 58-2b before bringing a package in the Parliament with 2/3 majority. This was stated by PML-N vice president Javed Hashmi while addressing a rally here on Wednesday.
He said that it was a last chance for the politicians for their survival, and they should not be afraid of generals and United States, and added that General Pervez Musharraf was at the weakest wicket because his main supporter PML-Q had vanished.
He said that the coalition government does not enjoy support of 2/3rd majority in the house and it would have to obtain support from MQM and Pervez Musharraf on their own terms and conditions, which would not be acceptable to the nation. He said that Nawaz Sharif was stuck to his stance of restoration of judges, and there was no ambiguity in Murree declaration.
Hashmi said, "We had took a bitter sip of ministries in the Federal Cabinet on the hope of restoration of judiciary and other institution. If PPP wanted to bring any judicial package, then there was no justification for it. He said that Benazir Bhutto had rung him in Mianwali prison that judges would surely be restored, and she would hoist the national flag atop of judges' residence.
He bitterly criticised institution of cases against young boys under anti-terrorism law for staging demonstration against long power load shedding, and demanded their immediate release.
Lawyers' rally led by Javed Hashmi, High Court Bar president Mehmood Ashraf, Zafar Iqbal (JI), Younas Ghazi (TI) Inayat-ullah Rehmani (JAH) Zameer-ul-Hassan Naqvi (Shia Ulema Council), Abdul Haq Mujahid, Intizar Qureshi, Allah Nawaz Durrani, Qurban Fatima, Sultana Shaheen, Ashraf Sindhu, Mehmood-ul-Hassan MNA, Shahid Mehmood MPA and Aamer Saeed Ansari concluded at SP Chowk and was followed by a protest meeting in bar complex.
