Food Department of District Government Muzaffargarh has so far purchased 24,699 tons of wheat as against the target of 140,000 tons. District Co-ordination Officer Dr Wasim Shamshad said on Wednesday. He said that wheat was being purchased from the farmers at the support price of Rs 625 per 40 kilograms.
He asked the District Food Controller to expedite the wheat procurement process so that the target could be achieved at the earliest.
