The British Council Peshawar's Supported Open Learning Centre (SOLC) working for the personal and professional development of teachers celebrated its first anniversary. SOLC is British Council initiative for promoting self-access learning and personal and professional development of teachers in the country. The celebration lasted for two days with two sessions each day.
Presentations were made in the first session while in the second session SOLC members participated in various activities like quiz and drama performances etc. In the first session on the second day, students from different educational institutions took part in many learning activities. They were briefed about education in United Kingdom and actively took part in question answer session. Students of Edwardes Collage staged a few scenes from a classic Shakespearian tragedy Macbeth.
The last session was for Madaris teachers that remained members of SOLC for the first year and attended English language courses. They appreciated the SOLC initiative and prayed for its success in future. British Council Peshawar Director Mussarat Khattak distributed prizes among the teachers and students who took active part in the celebrations.
