The sacked president Bank of Punjab (BoP) Hamaish Khan and other high officials of the bank were arrested by law enforcement agencies on Sunday night, Aaj TV channel reported. Quoting bank sources, the channel said that ex-president of BoP Hamaish Khan, general manager Azizul Hamid were arrested from their residences in Cavalry Ground and Faisal Town on Sunday night.
According to bank sources, President BoP Sajid Hussein ordered to close down Commercial East Development division on Saturday and general manager credit division Azizul Hamid, GM corporate division Hasan Khan, GM commercial division Aamir Mumtaz and corporate country head Khalid Qayyum were asked to quit their current positions and to report to human resource department. TV channel said that further arrest of other officials allegedly involved in approving heavy loans against nominal guarantees are expected.
