Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah Sunday said the establishment of new industries and creation of an industry-friendly environment is imperative for economic stability and prosperity and for elimination of unemployment.
He was talking to a 13-member delegation of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati), led by a prominent industrialist, S.M. Munir, which called on him at Chief Minister House here. Syed Qaim Ali Shah said the purchase of flour has become difficult due to its artificial shortage in Sindh.
He said the new crop of wheat has arrived but due to its shortage in the neighbouring countries the profiteers are trying to export the commodity.
The wheat export has been controlled due to positive steps taken by the government, he noted. Sindh Chief Minister said the government will bring industrial development to the country, particularly to Sindh Province, in accordance with the policies of Quaid-e-Awam, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and the manifesto of Shaheed leader Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. He called upon the trade delegation to cooperate with the government to maintain stability in the prices and for industrial development.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah called for a role of industrialists for the development of the country and creation of employment opportunities in the province. He said the provincial government is making all possible efforts for industrial development, maintenance of tranquillity, infrastructure development and provision of facilities to the masses.
He said a positive strategy is being devised by the government for the welfare of the people, which, he said will be presented in the next Budget. He said the increase in production can be achieved with improvement in the efficiency in all departments and called upon the experts to give their recommendations in this regard.
Qaim Ali Shah said positive efforts are being made to maintain law and order in Sindh. A significant decrease is noticed in crimess in the metropolis, he added Earlier, the head of the delegation, S.M. Munir and Chairman Kati, Fazal Jaleel thanked the Chief Minister for inviting them to Chief Minister House.
The delegation also congratulated Syed Qaim Ali Shah on assuming the charge of the office of CM Sindh. They informed that some 350,000 labourers are working in different Industries in Kati.
They apprised that Nooriabad Industrial Area is the largest Industrial Zone in Asia, which, they said needs full patronage of the government. The members of the delegation termed fast industrial development as imperative for elimination of unemployment and economic uplift.
They highlighted that 30 percent of the total textile industries of the country are in Karachi while the textile Industry is 70 percent of the total industrial sector of Pakistan.
They also welcomed the inclusion of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), in the Sindh Government. They were of the view that both MQM and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), are important political parties and can work for the maintenance of law and order, industrial development and economic stability. Delegation assured their full cooperation to the Chief Minister of Sindh.
Sindh Chief Minister said now-a-days not only Pakistan but the whole World is facing a serious economic conditions and there may be different reasons behind it. He, however, said the economy of the country was moving towards a crisis during the tenure of Ex-prime minister Shaukat Aziz. He said Shaukat Aziz was a banker and economic crises are confronting the country due to his wrong policies. Among other notables, Principal Secretary to Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Suhail Akber was also present in the meeting.
