The provincial government would soon launch a special healthcare programme for the welfare of those deserving people, who have been deprived of medicines in all government health institutions of Punjab, under the provincial government's Target Subsidy Programme in health sector on a priority basis.
Official sources said that the provincial government was making sincere efforts to successfully bringing some positive and practical changes in the health sector under its effective health policies, as it was already spending billions of rupees annually for providing advanced health and medical cover to deserving people.
The federal and provincial governments have successfully started a grand project of collecting the house data at union council level to record number of people who are ill in every Punjab house.
This data would help ensuring free medical and health facilities including free medicines to the people of both urban and rural areas at local level. Further the sources said that Punjab government was taking measures to develop the standard of the health and medical facilities in all Rural Health Centers (RHCs), Basic Health Units (BHUs).
It has provided all kind of life saving medicines in the emergency departments of all the DHQ hospitals. These medicines are being provided free of cost to all patients. The government would soon appoint specialists of all fields in the emergency wards of the DHQ and THQ hospitals very soon, under health sector's mega development programme.
Moreover, Punjab government has ensured the provision of basic health and medical facilities in about 80 percent BHUs. Easy availability of advanced health and medical cover for the people of both urban and rural areas is a top priority of new Punjab government, the source further said.
