Jordan tenders to buy 100,000 tonnes feed barley

Jordan's state grain buyer has issued a tender to purchase 100,000 tonnes of feed barley from any origin, European traders said on Monday. The bidding deadline is May 20. Shipment for 50,000 tonnes is in the second half of June and for 50,000 tonnes in the first half of July.
Traders had expected Jordan to issue a new barley tender following its purchase of only 75,000 tonnes of feed barley in its last tender for 100,000 tonnes on April 30. International grains prices have been falling following their dramatic rise in recent months. "Jordan's delay in its barley purchasing appears to be a good example of a major importer scaling down purchases to benefit from the current cool-down in commodity prices," one trader said. Jordan's April 30 barley purchase was made at $343 a tonne C&F and $358.90 a tonne C&F.
