A three-member US delegation comprising of Former Deputy Assistant Secretary, Johan A Gastright, Burean of South Asian Affairs, Kara L Bue, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Regional Stability called on Senior Federal Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan here on Tuesday.
The delegation discussed with the minister different dimensions of Pak-US relations. The minister said the present government is very much interested to upgrade relations with the US.
Furthermore, he said that the people of Pakistan firmly believe in democracy and they also want to maintain peace and stability in the region. He said people of Pakistan are peace loving people and they have never supported terrorism.
However, expressing his views regarding War on Terror' he said that Pakistan has paid a heavy price for participating in war on terror and still suffering from spiral effect of war in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, he stressed on the need of strengthening trade and economic ties and enhancing people to people contact between the two countries.
He also emphasised the need of increasing interaction between parliamentarians of both countries and this would help in increasing understanding between two countries and strengthening democracy in Pakistan.
