Ministry of Population Welfare is taking concrete steps to establish more family welfare centres and reproductive health services centres to provide maximum population welfare facilities to masses. It was disclosed by a press release issued here on Tuesday.
Mir Humayun Aziz Kurd, Federal Minister for Population Welfare is keen to extend the concept and range of Family Welfare Centres (FWC) and reproductive Health Services Centres (RHSC) at union council level.
The purpose of these measures is to facilitate the masses of rural and remote areas in terms of service delivery, advocacy, and motivation for young married couples to boost the idea of smaller family, press release said. Moreover, it said in Balochistan, where the population is dispersed, three family welfare centres in its each union council would be established.
Hence, there would be over 30,000 centres across the country, while presently there are only 3,000 centres throughout the country, it added. In addition, the press release said that more Regional Training Institutes (RTIs) for the training of Family Welfare Workers (FWWs) would be set up at divisional level. As many as 13 Institutes are already working and imparting training in various cities of the country and 10 more new centres will be set up in the next five years, it said.
