The Social Welfare and Special Education Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Khan Hoti has said that the government will establish Women Welfare and Development Centres (WWDC) in the rural areas for women empowerment, says a press release.
Talking to newsmen after visiting WWDC at Sector G-7 here, the minister said that the women centres will assist orphan girls, windows and deserving women in earning their livelihood in a respectable manner.
The minister said that a comprehensive programme has been executed for the extension of community development services for the rural, urban and backward areas. He said that under this programme, mother and childcare services, nursery classes and skill development programmes for deserving families will be provided through better involvement of local community and community based non-governmental organisations.
Hoti announced to provide sewing machines and computers to students. He also announced to donate three-Kanal land for construction of WWDC building in Mardan. Furthermore, the Minister said that the Social Welfare Ministry is fully cognisant of the needs of the poor segment of the society and it is providing financial assistance to the deserving families through Pakistan Baitul Mal (PBM) fund.
Hoti said that the ministry is checking funds disbursement process in Baitul Mal to redesign Baitul Mal's Food Support Programme (FSP) launched in 2002-2003, adding, "the ministry has planned to set up small industries under Food Support Programme."-PR
