Provincial President of Awami National Party Afrasiab Khattak has said that security situation in the NWFP is suitable for by-elections. Talking to a private TV channel he said the Election Commission of Pakistan had delayed the holding of by-elections in the country for two months but the decision after reaction from the coalition was reversed with minor change in the polls date.
He said the law and order situation is definitely appropriate for polls in the NWFP, adding that the coalition government in the province could conduct polls It was just a lack of communication between the federal and NWFP government that the issue emerged, he maintained.
The ANP provincial president said the situation has considerably improved as compared to past. One can see the record and the ground reality that not a big accident has taken place after assuming the power by the coalition government in the province, saying that the situation would further be improved with the passage of time.
