Senior lawyer Tariq Aziz has sent legal notices to all chief ministers, telling them to keep the number of ministers and advisors limited as mentioned in the constitution. The lawyer said in his notice sent to Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah that 41 ministers in the Sindh cabinet violated the Constitution and constrained the national exchequer.
He added the four advisers appointed by the Singh government were completely unjustified because the constitution did not allow such appointments to a provincial government. He said the Balochistan government appointed 55 ministers out of total house of 65, an act, which not only violated the constitution but the norms of democracy too. He added the NWFP government had 35 ministers while the Punjab included 14 ministers so far in its cabinet.
He said these appointments were in conflict with Article 130 and 132 of the Constitution, dealing with the provincial governments and added he would approach the Supreme Court if they did not cut the number of ministers.
