Another Massive Power Breakdown hits Karachi
KARACHI: A vast area of Karachi suffered major power outage during mid-night of Monday and Tuesday being another massive failure after Ramadan.
A large swathe of Karachi fell into darkness after a high tension wire at the Bin Qasim power station encountered a technical fault resulting into tripping of more than 15 K-Electric grid stations.
The affected areas of Karachi include Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Liaquatabad , F B Area, North Karachi, New Karachi, Buffer zone, Gul Bahar, Shadman Town, Aisha Manzil, Shah Faisal Colony, Malir, Khokarapar, Mubina Town, Gadap City, Surjani Town, Defence, Defence View, Mehmoodabad, Korangi, Landhi, Nazimabad, North Nazimabad and several other parts of the metropolis.
Angered and frustrated residents of Karachi turned to protest against K-Electric, few tried to vandalize the property and its building near Post Office and Liaquatabad No. 10.
Previously, on the first eve of the fasting month Saturday, the city was hit by a power failure that darkened more than half of the Karachi throughout the first Sehri.
Citing the cause of repetitive failures, the company tweeted, the power supply was affected due to EHT line tripping. EHT line tripped due to extraordinarily high humidity levels. The high amount of moisture in the air coupled with low wind factor led to reduced transmission capacity.
