The supply of flour in the different karyana shops and utility stores in Karachi city is highly erratic. The supply of wheat flour at the utility stores is much less than the demand. For this reason every day a large number of people returning empty hand from the utility stores as they are not getting their required quantity of atta.
At the general stores and kiryana shops atta is being sold at very high price. Chakki owners have been started a novel practice in the city. They offer to make flour out of wheat, which they suggest the buyers to buy from the adjacent grocery stores. This wheat is being sold at Rs 20 to Rs 22 per kilogram. Chakki owners charging Rs 2 per kilogram for grinding.
