The annual members meeting of Transparency International Pakistan was held on May 10 at Hotel Marriott, Karachi, says a press release. The meeting was attended by the Board of Trustees, the advisory committee and members of the organisation.
Executive Director, Saad Rashid made a short presentation of the activities that took place during the last year along with the notable achievements in this period. He later informed the members about the signing of the agreement with the donors for sponsoring the second phase of the Anti Corruption Project Pakistan. He explained the impact, the outcomes and the outputs of the second phase.
Shamiem Kazmi discussed the methodology of the National Corruption Perception Survey 2006 that was undertaken by her organisation. She informed the members the line of action for the survey to be conducted this year.
The members suggested that the survey should be delayed till the end of the year so that the perception about the new government could be included in this survey. They also gave input regarding sectors that should be a part of the next survey, the release said.
The Chairman Board of Trustees, Syed Adil Gilan gave a presentation on Advisory and Legal Aid Centres (ALAC) that TI-Pakistan is planning to establish in the near future. He gave details about the concept, objectives, the implementation mechanisms, etc. He talked about the ALAC centres that were operating in Europe and Central Asia and presented the statistics of these centres.
There was an open forum at the end where queries of the members were answered. Suggestions of the participants were also noted for future action.-PR
