Former Revenue minister of Indian Punjab Harnek Singh Gharuan visited Lahore on Tuesday where he met Punjab Communications and Works Minister Farooq Ghurki. He exchanged views on bilateral relations and also discussed trade between Pakistan and India.
Singh said both countries should strengthen their mutual prevailing ties and further promote congenial atmosphere. He then talked about recent developments in the field of agriculture and other sectors of East Punjab. Ghurki said Pakistan was facing important challenges in the field of food and energy, and present regime was taking concrete steps to overcome these issues. He said that both the countries should opt to work closer for the poverty alleviation and prosperity of the masses.
"The government has fixed top priority of "good governance" and a number of steps being taken in this regard," he added. Gharuan is a veteran politician who has been in the Indian parliament since 1971. He remained Minister of East Punjab thrice. He has left for Hassan Abdal for religious activities and will be back again in Lahore before he returns to India.
