A crackdown against wheat hoarders has been launched to tackle the artificial shortage of wheat here in Muzaffargarh. DCO Tariq Javed Malik stated this at a meeting held to review wheat procurement movement. He disclosed that the government has announced 10 percent of the commodity as reward for those who will inform the department about any incident of hoarding.
He said that the storage of wheat in cotton factories, rice factories, and cold storage has also been banned. DFC Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor apprised the DCO that 40 percent of the wheat procurement target has been achieved. He further revealed that he himself was monitoring wheat procurement drive on daily basis. DCO directed revenue officers to ensure all possible efforts to achieve set target.
