The supreme council of Pakistan Flour Mills Association has demanded that the Punjab government should start issuing government wheat to the flour mills to maintain the supply of flour in the market.
This demand came from chairman Habib ur Rehman Leghari in a meeting to review the situation of wheat and issues being confronted by flour millers. The council also demanded time from Chief Minister Dost Muhammad Khosa and the Provincial Food Committee to discuss the problems being faced by the millers.
It said the non-availability of wheat and increase in the prices of wheat in the open market had made it impossible for the millers to continue flour supply on government prescribed rates.
The meeting unanimously urged the Punjab government to issue wheat from the Food Department to maintain flour supply. It also said they wanted a solution to their problems to continue supplying flour to the public.
