President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Muhammad Ijaz Abbasi has demanded of the government to promulgate Rent Control Act in Islamabad. Talking to Chief Commissioner Islamabad Capital Territory Hamid Ali Khan here on Thursday he stressed for restoration of previous law in this respect.
He said that there is no Rent Control Act is in force in Islamabad as a result of which there is a difficulty in settling the disputes between the owners and tenants of property.
He said that suggestions were submitted with respect to Rent Control Act, which should be implemented in letter and spirit and it will help both owners and tenants a great deal in resolution of disputes. Abbasi also emphasised for revival of 1/3rd of registration charges on transfer of property to gift to the blood relations, which is now being transferred at full charges.
He said the ICCI is pursuing Capital Development Authority for establishment of new industrial estate at sector I-17 because the current industrial areas at I-9 and I-10 have completely saturated.
Abbasi said that at a number of places in Islamabad, U-turns and main crossing have been closed which not only create troubles for the commuters but also become the cause of wasting time and fuel. He stressed for opening closed passages. He said that reconciliation committees should be reconstituted so as to make them more effective. Abbasi said that current committees are not performing well as a result the problems are arising in settlement of disputes.
Abbasi said that beggary should be controlled in Islamabad because it presented a very bad impression. He said that professional beggars are also involved in crimes and pass on information to the criminals.
