Chairman Senate Mohammedmian Soomro Thursday said, due to investor-friendly policies of the government, the telecom sector has registered a phenomenal growth in the country.
"The telecom sector has registered appreciable growth culminating in high tele-density owning to the conducive and congenial business atmosphere and investor-friendly policies being pursued by the government," Soomro said while talking to CEOs of the leading telecom companies in the country.
He said the development witnessed in the telecom sector is wonderful by all means and different brand names in the cell phone market have become household names in the country.
This, he said, is indeed an unprecedented progress in the region since the country is providing a lead in the field of telecom. The Chairman Senate impressed upon the need to ensure that efficiency and quality service is maintained at a competitive cost. "The companies must ensure that their franchises fully comply with the government directions regarding verification of subscribers ID to precluding the possibility of cell phone use by unscrupulous persons," he added.
"Security takes precedence over every thing else," he added. He told the delegation that a committee has already been constituted and assigned to look after their difficulties and suggest ways and mean to overcome them efficiently and effectively.
