The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday puts off hearing of a bail petition of an accused in F-8 Markaz bomb blast case for fifteen days.
A Division Bench comprising the Chief Justice, Sardar Mohammad Aslam and Justice, Raja Saeed Akram Khan adjourned hearing of the bail petition of Qasim Mushtaq alias Rashid on the request of the counsel for federation seeking 15 days time to produce relevant record in connection with the case.
Counsel for the appellant, Rehanud Din Advocate objected to the non-production of record by the counsel of federation prayed to the court to consider the bail immediately. The accused was arrested for his alleged involvement in a bomb blast that killed 13 people and left many others injured on July 17, 2007.
The blast took place when the then Chief Justice of Supreme Court, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was due to arrive in Ayub Market, F-8 Markaz to address a lawyers' convention.
According to the case, the appellant challenged the decision of the Judge, Special Court Anti-Terrorism No 1, Rawalpindi Division and Islamabad Capital Territory that rejected his bail application on December 5, 2007. Rashid was arrested after an FIR No 222/2007 was registered with Margalla Police Station under section 3/4 Explosive Act, 6/7 ATA, 302/109 and 324/427 PPC for his alleged involvement in the crime.
