Punjab Highway Department (PHD) has been asked to prepare PC I of Adiala Road within a week and present it to the provincial government for sanction of funds Station Commander Rawalpindi, Brigadier Sajjad Azam, talking to APP here Tuesday said the project of widening of congested Kutchery Chowk will be carried out by National Highway Authority (NHA).
He said, in view of ever increasing traffic on the two roads, the authorities concerned are being pursued for the approval of funds to carry out execution of the projects to help mitigate the problems of the commuters.
Despite the completion of the Adiala Road phase one the residents still face traffic jams on the over-loaded single lane road with ever increasing residential schemes coming up along the road. Similarly Kutchery Chowk, which sees unprecedented traffic snarls throughout the day, will be redesigned by NHA, he informed.
The commuters have urged NHA to expedite plans to resolve the traffic mess as Airport road is fast being completed by FWO and unless the Kutchery Chowk is redesigned the motorists travelling through this main intersection will continue to face traffic congestion.
Meanwhile the Commander said a plan of an alternate route of Tulsa road is being prepared to resolve the increased traffic on the main transit road of various localities, adding that over-flowing sewerage lines in the area will be rectified soon. He called upon the residents to meet their tax obligations so that the authorities are able to carry out development schemes in Cantonment area.
