The Polio Free Pakistan walk that started from Sindh C.M House and concluded at Karachi Press Club was jointly led by Abdul Sattar Edhi (Chairman Edhi Foundation), Senior PPP leader and Advisor to the Sindh C.M, Rashid Rabbani and Peoples Doctors Forum (PDF) President, Dr Karim Khawaja. It was largely attended by doctors, paramedics, LHVs and PPP activists.
Advisor Rashid Rabbani talking to media on culmination of the walk said unexpected surge in the number of polio affectees in the province was a matter of serious concern. He said concerted efforts were required to protect the children against Polio.
"Close coordination was required at all levels to motivate parents not to avoid immunisation of their under five kids against polio," said the advisor. He said motivation among parents also needed to be complimented with a stringent vigil to avoid any administrative lapse.
Rashid Rabbani said commitment of the present government towards life quality of masses including children would make the difference. The advisor urged the participants of the walk comprising doctors, paramedics, LHVs and PPP activists to play their due role in achieving the warranted target of polio free Pakistan.
