Senior Sindh Minister Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq has expressed his dismay over the poor performance and alleged corruption in Sindh Text Book Board (STBB). In a meeting held to discuss matters related to Bureau of Curriculum and Education and STBB at Jamshoro on Monday evening, he said enquiry had been ordered and after ascertaining the facts strict action would be initiated against the involved persons.
The Education Minister said all ghost employees would be taken to task and those found in corruption would be brought in the court of law. Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq asked the Provincial Education Secretary to prepare a detailed report after investigation and audit of STBB so that action could be initiated against the involved persons.
He asked the officers concerned to publish textbooks within timeframe as the government would not tolerate any delay in this direction. The Minister also underlined the need for activating Bureau of Curriculum and directed to form a joint committee of the heads of Bureau and STBB to bring more improvement in the organisation.
He has said that only the increase in literacy rate could bring progress and prosperity in the society and the present government fully committed for the improvement in educational system in order to move the province towards right track of development.
The Minister stated that the government was preparing a comprehensive plan to introduce the same in letter and spirit and improve the literacy rate in the province. The officers concerned should realise their responsibilities and work with dedication and honesty in making the peoples' welfare projects more beneficial and fruitful for the masses, the minister said.]
He warned that the government fully committed to provide maximum relief to the people and in this direction, no negligence of the officers concerned would be tolerated. The education institutions were the national assets and it must be moved for the right direction so that the people could get maximum benefits of improving literacy, the minister said and maintained that any move of destruction of those national assets would be foiled.
Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq said that he would conduct surprise visits to educational institutions to review the performance of those departments. About the problems of the employees of related departments, the minister assured that all genuine demands would be fulfilled on merit. The government will maintain merit and transparency in all affairs to move the peoples-oriented organisations into right direction.
He assured that the meeting of the Departmental Promotion Committee would be convened soon so that the senior employees could get their due rights. Sindh Education Secretary Rizwan Ali Memon, STBB Chairman Ali Asghar Bhutto, Bureau of Curriculum Director Mushtaq Ahmed Shahani and Executive District Officer Education Jamshoro briefed the minister about the performance of their respective departments.
The minister also held meeting with University of Sindh Vice Chancellor Mazhar-ul-Haq Siddiqui and Vice Chancellor Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro and discussed with them about the academic affairs and law and order situation at the campuses.
