A delegation of the European Commission on Tuesday met experts of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) to discuss development of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector in Pakistan.
The EC delegation, which was led by Dirksellens included representatives from DFID, ILO and GTZ. Smeda team was headed by its Chief Executive Officer, Shahid Rashid. Syed Iqbal Anwar Kidwai, General Manager, Outreach, Fiaz Riaz, Deputy General Manager, Javaid Afzal, Manger Training and Imran Chaudhry, Manager Donor Coordination also attended the meeting.
Dirksellens informed that his team was busy meeting with the officials of government and private sector institutions for the development of TVET sector in Pakistan. "We have come to Pakistan to refine the findings of the Identification Mission that visited Pakistan during March last," he added.
Rashid briefed the visiting delegation about Smeda's contribution to develop SME sector in the country. He said that his authority was formulating sector development strategies to curb poverty by generating employment opportunities and ensuring sustainable social and economic development.
