Provincial Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Muhammad Ayaz Soomro on Tuesday said the budget for the fiscal year 2008-09 would be people-friendly. He said the government would announce special incentives for the uplift of agriculture and industrial sectors besides rationalisation of taxes in the budget.
Talking to a delegation of the traders here, the Minister said the government was trying to provide relief to the poor as well as salaried class. He said a comprehensive strategy would be announced in this regard so that people of the province could get relief.
He said it was need of the hour to promote tax culture across the board and "our government was trying to increase the sphere of taxpayers in the province so that maximum revenue could be collected and more resources could be made available". The minister said the government was also trying to cut the non-development budget accordingly.
On the occasion, he assured that the law and order situation in the province would be improved at all costs and the criminals be dealt with strictly. He said that all out efforts would be made to control the crime at grassroots level, adding justice would be provided to the people of the province without any discrimination.
The minister said Pakistan People's Party was the party of poor workers, adding that on December 27 the voice of poor workers 'late Benazir Bhutto' was killed at Liaquat Bagh, but PPP government would continue her mission of providing 'Roti, Kapra Aur Makan' to every poor of the province.
