Champions Trophy Cricket: ICC team expresses satisfaction over security plans
A four-member security delegation of International Cricket Council (ICC) has shown satisfaction over the security arrangements being made for holding the Champions Trophy Cricket event in Pakistan in September this year.
The ICC delegation comprising security consultants, James Wittington and Keane Steele and ICC representatives Campbell Jamisen and Bruce Ewan are currently visiting Pakistan to assess arrangements being made for the Champions Trophy.
The delegation members spent a busy day in Lahore on Tuesday, as they visited various grounds including three practice grounds reserved for the event-Aitchison College, Bagh-e-Jinnah and Lahore Country Club-and Gadaffi stadium to review the security arrangements.
The ICC representative Campbell Jamisen told reporters that the delegation visited a number of grounds apart from one match venue and they were given briefing on security measures to be adopted during the elite event.
"The ICC delegation has so far visited Karachi and Lahore and the delegation members are satisfied with the security arrangements and we will be submitting our report to ICC on security after visiting Islamabad on Wednesday," he said.
The delegation also had a detailed meeting with the officials of security agencies who led by Punjab Home Secretary Nadim Hassan Arif gave a detailed briefing. The Home Secretary assured the delegation that top level security will be provided to all the participating teams during the mega event.
Official sources told Business Recorder that the security officials gave detailed briefing to the ICC delegation members who expressed satisfaction over the arrangements being made for the mega event. The officials told the ICC delegation that there was no security concern in Pakistan as far as visit of any team is concerned and all the cricket teams will be provided foolproof security during the event.
