The Executive Board meeting of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was held here on Wednesday to deal with the references against several accused.
The meeting was presided over by Chairman NAB, Nawid Ahsan, while attended by Prosecutor General Accountability, Director General Awareness and Prevention, Director General Financial Crimes Investigation Wing, Director General Operations and Chief of Staff NAB.
The meeting approved filing of reference against Mahmood ul Hassan, Habib ur Rehman, Arif Pervez, Muhammad Hussain, Muhammad Waris, Muhammad Hashmat, Iftikhar Ali & Faiz ur Rehman, in preparation and encashement of forged and fake income tax refund which caused loss to the government exchequer to the tune of Rs 15.414 million.
The meeting also approved reference against Sohrab Khan Kalwar, ex-Deputy Director Food Department Sindh for acquiring assets beyond his known sources of income to the tune of Rs 10.346 million.
During the meeting it was also decided to close inquiries against Syed Hassan Imam of Ghazi Builders, Shahid Hussain Jatoi, Additional Commissioner Income Tax, Sheikh Muhammad Ishaque, ex-Chairman Rice Export Corporation of Pakistan and Pervaiz Khan Jadoon, SE Irrigation Department NWFP due to lack of reliable evidence.
Moreover, the Executive Board of NAB authorised complaint verification against Muhammad Ikram, Shahnaz Ikram, Usman Ikram and Faisal Saeed Sheikh, Directors, M/s SB Hosiery Faisalabad and Raza Habib Chief Executive and Shamaila, Director of M/s Jannat Apparel (Pvt) Limited Faisalabad on the complaint of the National Bank of Pakistan.
