To access the exact number of job requirements, the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) has planned to conduct a research to streamline the market requirements.
Sources in Tevta told Business Recorder on Saturday that research would provide the exact number of job requirement and in light of the findings, Tevta will update the specific technical trades as per precise market need.
The process will definitely help to generate excellent professionals besides playing a key role in minimising the unemployment across the province. Highlighting the motives behind the establishment of Tevta, they said that the authority was established under the special directives of the President, Pervez Musharraf to initiate reform process in technical institutes on advance industrial scenario, that were currently far from advance studies.
On the other hand, it would also work to eliminate the corruption presently skyrocketed in technical education set up. They said that mismanagement, outdated trade training programmes and embezzlement in developing funds of technical institutes were responsible for the collapse of the technical education set up throughout the Sindh.
Further, the sources apprised that out of total established institutes in Sindh, not even a single was running trade-training programme as per market demand. They maintained that institutes play a key role in lifting Pakistan's economy and were established to fulfil the industrial demand by generating skilled manpower.
Furthermore, students were being trained in an outdated technical teaching set up, which causes to produce unskilled degree holder professionals, who were incompetent to work in competitive industrial environment.
'Technically qualified students are facing difficulties to get jobs, even if they find one, cannot cope with the advance industrial environment, creating negative perception on industrial professional not to induct professional degree holders', they added.
They also informed Business Recorder that majority of technical institutes still offer outdated courses and try to enhance technical approaches of students with old equipment that create immense difficulties for students studying abroad. Moreover, these institutes were teaching technical trades without market research spoiling student's future besides effecting the credibility of all technical institutes, they added.
