Vietnam's southern region, incorporating the Mekong Delta food basket, has so far harvested 11.5 million tonnes of export-quality winter-spring paddy, up 5.8 percent from last year, the government said on Wednesday.
The rising output of Vietnam's top rice crop would help speed the government's decision making to lift its ban on signing new export contracts as industry officials have previously said the removal would be based on results of the crop.
