Political, social, religious and business circles of Badin district, while welcoming the government decision to abandon the controversial Kalabagh Dam (KBD) project have termed the move a bold step.
It may be mentioned that the federal government has recently announced to shelve the KBD project and opt for construction of small water reservoirs and alternative sources for power generation. They urged the government to take steps for initiating Thar coal project for power generation on urgent basis.
They opined that the move would help create more harmony among the federating units and strengthen the unity and stability of the country. Prominent writer Akash Sadiq Mandhro while talking to Business Recorder termed the decision a success of those, who struggle hard to get scraped the controversial project. He urged the government to resolve other issues on priority basis.
