The Sindh Senior Minister for Education, Literacy and Criminal Prosecution Service Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq has directed the Secretary Education to circulate to all the EDOs of the province for sparing one wide room in each high school compulsory for the establishment of library.
He was addressing an Award Distribution Ceremony at Government Jan Mohammad Jamali P C School on Saturday. Addressing the ceremony he said that Government of Sindh would provide books for these libraries to facilitate the students and inspire the students for reading habit. He said that it is universally acknowledged principle that one can get education effectively in his mother tongue as such the Sindhi medium schools would be encouraged.
He said that the Sindhi medium schools of rural area could be proved as instrumental source for qualitative education subject to the keen interest of the teachers, parents, and students. He said that the learning of the languages other then the mother tongue was very much essential to create love and affection and brotherhood among the different section of the life.
He said that he knows that Sindhi people could speak more languages simultaneously which include Urdu, Siraiki, English, and so on. He appealed the people of other languages to learn Sindhi language and added that it would be beneficial for them to get the Sindhi language oriented jobs.
Expressing his concern over the number of non-functional schools the Minister said that though he had given 45 days to the management concerned for re-opening of these 7,700 closed schools but according to his knowledge the management has been failed to meet the task assigned to them. He said that he has decided to take action, from top to bottom instead of bottom to top.
He said that it has been decided that all the old educational institutions of Sindh would be repaired and renovated and the status of these institutions would be restored in original shape. He said that matter of deletion of Sindhi Salees from syllabus of HSC Part-I and II would be investigated.
Mazher also directed the management of government schools to conduct parent-teachers meeting regularly. He also stressed the need of computer literacy and directed the management of the government and private schools to introduce IT education in their schools.
He asked the people to prefer in getting computer instead of getting refrigerator, TV or other luxuries items. The Minister for Education while talking about the promotion of women folk, disclosed that PPP government was preparing a policy to give the government cultivated land to the women farmers instead of male farmers to ensure women empowerment and eliminate the gender discrimination from the society. He said that farmer women were more laborious and compared to male farmers.
Lauding the role of Jan Mohammad P C School, the Sindh Minister said that this school produced many intellectuals and bureaucrats who served the nation at large. He announced for giving one computer for the pupils of the school. Earlier, the Sindh Minister gave away prizes among the outstanding students.
He also visited the school and also seated himself on the bench on which he had used to sit to get primary education. He also enquired from the D O works and services about the pace of repair and renovation works schemes approved at the cost of Rs 7.5 million. He directed him to expedite the repair and ensure qualitative work.
Later, the Sindh Minister Education visited Government Noor Mohammad High School where he inspected on-going development work of repair and renovation being carried out at the cost of Rs 7.5 million. He also directed the management of the school to keep their institution clean and assured that the old status of the Noor Mohammad High School would be restored.
The Minister also visited Government Zubedah Girls College, where he offered fateha along with the Principal Gul Naz Shaikh on sad demise of his brother. He also listen the problems of teaching staff and took round the college and directed to get the college repaired and renovated within the shortest possible time.
