A vegetable vendor was killed while going to buy stocks from the Mandi for his village shop, when he tried to resist dacoits on the way to Qabula early Saturday morning. Zaffar Hussain (35) of Chak 97/EB and Masood Chishti were going on a donkey cart when three dacoits hidden in the maize field stopped them at gunpoint, snatching Rs 1,500 from the former and Rs 250 from the latter.
When Zaffar tried to resist, they opened fire and killed him on the spot and escaped in the semi-darkness.
