Out of an assessed amount of Rs 99.53 million, up to 100 Farmer Organisations (FOs) of three different canal circles have collected an amount of Rs 85.15 million as Abiana from water users for the Kharif crop 2007. This collection was made up to May 10, 2008.
This was disclosed in a departmental meeting, held under the chairmanship of Senior Minister/Irrigation and Power Minister, Raja Riaz Ahmad, to review abiana collection by FOs at Irrigation Headquarters, here on Saturday. The meeting was informed that 64 FOs of Lower Chenab Canal (W) Circle, having a total Culturable Command Area of 1126 334 acres, collected Rs 73.14 million out of an assessed amount of Rs 80.64 million and shown 91 percent collection. 16 FOs had shown 100 percent collection of abiana.
Likewise, six FOs of Lower Jhelum Canal Circle Sargodha, with a Culturable Command Area of 94,415 acres collected Rs 5.8 million out of Rs 6.49 million and shown 90 percent collection. The 30 FOs of Chasma Right Bank Canal Circle, with Culturable Command Area of 27,0000 areas, collected Rs 6.21 million as abiana from water users.
